Get your goat at the OSU Extension

The Southern Oregon Research and Extension Center will host a class on goat ownership and care from 8:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 14, at 569 Hanley Road, Central Point.

The "Get Yer Goat" education day will cover topics like goat breeding, milking, veterinary care, parasites and nutrition. OSU Extension faculty members, professionals and seasoned goat owners from around the state will teach a beginner and an advanced track of workshops throughout the day. This event is a collaborative effort between OSU Extension Small Farms and the Rogue Valley Dairy Goat Association. An optional, separate cheesemaking class, limited to 20 attendees, also will be held.

The goat education class costs $35 for adults and $20 for youth. The cheese making workshop costs $50 per person.
