  • Not Straight - Not Sure, a program of Lotus Rising Project, will present a bullying seminar featuring guest speakers, a youth-led panel discussion and interactive performance by Youth Empowerment Theatre from 7 to 9 p.m. Monday, Sept. 16, at the Medford library, 205 S. Central Ave., Medford.
Lotus Rising Project is a social justice organization for LGBTQ youth. This presentation, "My Story, Your Story, Bullying Hurts Us All," will explore ways to counteract the negative effects of bullying.
A recent report from the Oregon Safe Schools and Communities Coalition, revealed that schools in the Rogue Valley are challenged to recognize and respond to bullying when it is happening on their campuses. Attendees of this community awareness night will hear from lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender and questioning youth what life is really like on campus. Crater High School teacher Matthew Reynolds will share the challenges of addressing a pervasive bullying culture; and, through interactive theater, the audience will witness a bullying scenario and take part in creating a better outcome for the victims, bystanders and perpetrators.
