Practices become more tolerable, gearing up for...
BUTTE FALLS — With only 10 players traveling to the eight-man football season opener for Prospect, head coach Dave Boekenoogen didn't exactly have a lot of options against Butte Falls.
Turns out he didn't need many, however, as juniors Darren Stillwagon and Kevin Anderson stole the show in a 62-6 victory over the Loggers.
Stillwagon completed 10 of 15 passes for 255 yards and five touchdowns and ran 15 times for 112 yards and three scores for Prospect, while Anderson turned all four of his receptions into scores as he amassed 150 yards to go with 65 yards rushing on 13 carries. Anderson also returned an interception 30 yards for a score to help the Cougars open a 40-6 lead by halftime.
"Those two guys were the ones who pretty much put it together for us today," said Boekenoogen, whose team still has four players who need more practices to be eligible to play.
Anderson caught TD passes of 50, 9, 53 and 38 yards from Stillwagon, who also added a 57-yard scoring strike to sophomore Tyler Munsell.
Butte Falls broke through to end the first half when senior Coltin Hanson ran in a 4-yard score on a drive that was sparked by a 52-yard run from junior Alex Cool-Hunsaker.
Prospect managed 450 yards of total offense and limited the Loggers to 111 on the ground and 16 through the air.
