  • The Spiritual Care Department at Asante Rogue Regional Medical Center will offer a one-day training for people interested in spiritual caregiving. There is no fee.
The training will be from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Thursday, Sept. 19, at the Smullin Health Education Center.
Participants will learn about skills needed to provide spiritual care to people regardless of their faith or beliefs, and they will explore their own spiritual capacity to provide that care.
The training will cover introduction to spiritual care, spiritual assessment, being "with" a patient and ministry to the sick.
The training is for people who wish to volunteer as interfaith spiritual caregivers for Asante; clergy who want to improve their pastoral skills; lay church members who visit the sick, dying and homebound people; or students needing additional class hours.
Additional workshops will be available for those who decide to continue learning about interfaith spiritual care.
Class size is limited to 20 people, and the registration deadline is Monday, Sept. 16. To register, contact instructor Larry Blight, lead chaplain at RRMC, at 541-789-3780 or lblight@asante.org.
