  • SALEM — Oregon's one-stop business portal, Business Xpress (business.oregon.gov), won a 2013 Digital Government Achievement Award in the Government to Business Category from the Center for Digital Government.
This is the second time the service has been recognized for its innovative delivery of information and services to Oregon businesses. In April, the service was recognized as a 2013 Computerworld Honors Laureate for its excellent application of technology to meet business needs.
Business Xpress brings together state online services, forms and information, making them accessible from a single website without individual agency organizational structures to complicate the navigation.
"Oregon is the first state to implement a website for businesses that focuses entirely on the tasks a business needs to complete, saving visitors' time when they come to the website," said Oregon Secretary of State Kate Brown.
The project was led by the Secretary of State's office, in collaboration with eight Oregon agencies, which mined all available business-related web content and services to develop a task-oriented website.
Business Xpress is designed responsively to enable the site to work on all devices such as computers, smart phones and tablets.
The 2013 Digital Government Achievement Awards recognize outstanding agency and department websites and projects. Websites are judged on productivity and performance, innovation, functionality, and collaboration.
The review is conducted by the Center for Digital Government, a national research and advisory institute on information technology policies.
The website was developed through Oregon's E-Government Program with the assistance of NICUSA, Inc. (NASDAQ:EGOV) which is under contract to provide services.
