  • The Oregon Primary Care Association will honor an Ashland legislator for his support of community health centers.
Rep. Peter Buckley, a Democrat, will receive a 2013 Health Center Hero Award at 10 a.m. Friday, Sept. 13, at Community Health Center, 99 Central Ave., Ashland. He and eight other lawmakers were chosen to receive the award. The association noted Buckley's advocacy for culturally competent care.
The Oregon Primary Care Association is a nonprofit organization of 31 community health centers operating at 200 sites across the state.
Central Point will hold its fall citywide yard sale from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 14.
The city has 110 addresses on its official list of sales and there may be more as some people organize their sales after the deadline for publishing the list has passed.
Address lists are available now on the city's website, Facebook page or at City Hall. The list has all addresses alphabetically listed. There also will be a web link and QR Code to a map of all the sales.
There are several other events going on Saturday in Central Point, too, organizers said.
A Bike Safety Fair will be from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. at City Hall, 140 S. Third St. Attendees will learn the rules of the road, bicycle safety and learn to properly fit helmets. There will be free raffle items, including a bike and bike helmet.
The Central Point Police Department, 155 S. Second St., will have an open house from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. The department and Jackson County Fire District No. 3 will have exhibits, demonstrations and tours.
