ASHLAND — A Reo car, driven by J.C. Miller, got beyond the driver's control this afternoon as he was rounding the short curve at the south end of the plaza. The steering gear was apparently out of order and the brakes also refused to hold the car wheels set. The car headed for the front of the Settle Harness Store. The small car belonging to W.D. Carey of Almond Street was standing at the curb.

The right hind wheel was smashed when the unruly auto rammed it. The Reo car slid around and crashed into the front of the harness store, breaking a window and making a large hole in the woodwork at the base of the window.

The Reo car belonged to Mr. Stedham, who works for the railroad company. Mr. Miller was showing Miss Sherman of Fort Dodge, Iowa, about the town when the incident occurred. She was thrown from the car when the crash came but was not injured.
