Allen Timothy Burke, 30, of White City, Ore., passed away Wednesday, September 4, 2013 after a valiant, 3-year battle with a brain tumor. Many thank yous to Dr. Neuwelt and team at OHSU for their heroic effort that gave us precious time.
Allen was a Cub Scout and Boy Scout, which increased his love of the outdoors. And his decision to be a Marine came from his awe and respect of the stories told by his Scout Master, who is a Marine.
Allen was a 2001 graduate of Eagle Point High School. He graduated early on a Friday, celebrated his 18th birthday on Saturday, and left Sunday for Camp Pendleton to begin his dream of being a U.S. Marine.
After discharge from the Marines, he spent several years in the Bozeman, Mont. area enjoying his outdoor passions. Camping, hiking, fishing, gold panning, hunting, riding quads, mudding, mountain biking, and rockhounding. His outdoor passion also included trips to the High Desert, known as Plush, with the Medford Firefighters. He loved the outdoors and the bigger the adrenalin rush the better.
He is survived by his father, Tim; mother, Laurie; brother Stephen; grandparents, LeRoy and Margaret Meyer of Salem, Ore. and Carol Burke of Doniphan, Mo.; aunts; uncles; cousins; and many devoted friends.
A memorial will be held at 11:00 a.m. Monday, September 23, 2013 at Conger Morris Funeral Home, 800 S. Front St., Central Point, Ore. Everyone is welcome to wear camo, or red, white and blue in honor of Allen.
We are so blessed to have had you in our lives, our beloved boy. Love you forever.
Love, Mom and Dad
