John Tisdale, aged 14 years, was arrested yesterday afternoon on a charge of having (knowingly used) a forged check for $20, E.N. Warner of Warner, Wortman & Gore, being the victim.

The name of M.E. Root was forged to a check for $20, and Mr. Warner, not suspecting a boy of such immature years, readily cashed the check.

Later when the falsity of the check was discovered, search was made for young Tisdale, who was promptly taken into custody. Sixteen dollars of the money was still found in his possession.

The boy admitted that he had passed two similar checks on the day before on Mike Gault for $15, and one some time before on a Central Point merchant for $5. The $15 obtained from Gault had been spent in buying boyish trinkets and luxuries at the fair grounds. Things looked so easy to the lad that he decided to celebrate the fair in a most lavish manner.

He was sent to Jacksonville for a quiet sojourn and will be given a hearing before Juvenile Judge TouVelle Monday morning. Young Tisdale has a brazen air of bravado and boasts of having passed many forged checks in California without detection.
