  • PHOENIX — Grants Pass' Nathan Trujillo chipped in a goal with less than five seconds to go in the first half, and the score stood up for a 1-0 nonconference boys soccer victory over Phoenix Thursday at U.S. Cellular Community Park.
Trujillo received a through ball, took a couple of dribbles to the 10-yard mark and knocked it between two of the Pirates' centerbacks and into the net.
The Pirates (0-1-1) outshot the Cavemen 13-7 and had five corner kicks to GP's three, yet were unable to capitalize.
Midfielder Eli Espana and centerback Said Castillo provided solid play for Phoenix.
