Every juice and smoothie served at the Ashland Food Co-op is 100 percent fresh, made-to-order and organic — qualities their clientele appreciates.
"To my knowledge, no one else in the Rogue Valley is making juice and smoothies like we are," says Michelle O'Connor, the co-op's deli manager. "All of our ingredients are organic or Non-GMO Project Verified and taste great. We do not use pre-made mixes or add fillers. We have a diverse menu of supplements and boosters for people to customize a juice for their particular health purposes and personal taste."
The Ashland Food Co-op, located at 237 N 1st St., supports local farmers and that includes the juice bar, where local produce is used exclusively when in season. Their wheatgrass, for example, is grown only three miles away and is one of their best sellers. "We serve so much that sometimes the farmer has a hard time keeping up with us," O'Connor says.
The best selling juice blend is "The Green Hornet," made from kale, celery, cucumber, apple, parsley and spinach.
Though the juice bar has several options on the menu that have been tried and tested for taste, customers can build their own drinks from any combination of produce the bar has on hand.
"Our juice bar employees have a passion for creating your juice order just how you like it," O'Connor says. "It's the busiest spot in our store."
