As a runner and marathoner, Brian Johnson is very familiar with the aches and pains that come with the territory. As a licensed massage therapist, Johnson specializes in sports and medical massage. The majority of his clients are fellow runners, tri-athletes and cyclists.

"My favorite thing about my job is helping someone recover from an injury," he says. "It's very gratifying to see one of my runners doing it again and doing it faster or even better."

Johnson says he tailors his massage technique to each client. Though many of his clients like his deep tissue massage, others require a lighter touch. "I can work both ends of the spectrum and not everyone can do that," he says.

Johnson uses a variety of massage techniques to relieve pain and rebuild muscle for his clients, including myofascial release, Swedish, trigger point therapy and cross fiber friction.

At his office at 10 Crater Lake Ave. in Medford, Johnson also provides relaxation massage. "When someone is stressed out, but can go home happy with a smile on his or her face, it makes my job very worthwhile," he says.
