"It smells so good in here with the essential oils, herbs and incense," says Summer Smith, the store manager. "You can feel the healing energy when you walk in the door. We've been told that over and over again."
Owner Ray Spencer opened the The Herb Shop in 1987 as a tiny store specializing in bulk herbs and friendly service. Those are still the store's specialties today, though the shop has expanded to offer a range of vitamins, books, jewelry and a nose-tingling array of more than 150 essential oils at its location at 247 SW G St. in Grants Pass.
"We have over 500 bulk herbs and spices in jars," Smith says. "Customers can buy as little as an ounce or up to a pound or more. Buying bulk really keeps costs down and allows versatility in making your own blends, teas and tinctures."
The store is known for the huge variety of its inventory, offering customers a wealth of choices. "We are dedicated to helping people educate themselves to make their own health choices," Smith says. "Our staff focuses on compassion and listening. We honor everyone's differences."
