Nancy Jean Sears, 80, of Medford, Ore., passed away Saturday, September 7, 2013 at Rogue Regional Medical Center. She was born January 5, 1933, in Council Bluffs, Iowa to her parents, Fred and Jean (Mac Dougall) Stone. Nancy was the eldest of three children. She attended East Bakersfield High School and graduated in 1950. She married Sherrell Sears on May 5, 1951. They had two daughters, Beth and Amy.
Early in her working career she was the secretary for the Dean of Women at Bakersfield College, and also the secretary to the principal of South High in Bakersfield, Calif. She was a resident of Southern Oregon for 40 years. While living in Jacksonville, Nancy enjoyed being president of the Garden Club, and a member of the Jacksonville Booster Club. Nancy was the first secretary for Grace Christian School. She enjoyed working in the garden and being around wild birds, traveling and spending time with her daughters and grandchildren. She loved all her friends and never had a negative thing to say about anyone. Nancy enjoyed her bible study classes and her many friends in the Christian Women's club. Nancy was a baby cuddler for the Rogue Valley Medical Center Auxiliary for over 5 years until her health became a concern, and she especially enjoyed her coffee connection with dear friends.
Nancy will be remembered by her loving husband, Sherrell and their daughters, Beth Hill, of Bakersfield, Calif. and Amy Davis, of Carlsbad, Calif.; sisters, Mary Foster and Sally (Bob) Knox, both of Bakersfield, Calif.; grandchildren, Anthony and Whitney Hill; and multiple nieces and nephews. Nancy was preceded in death by her parents.
Relatives and friends are invited to a Celebration of Life for Nancy at 10:00 a.m. Saturday, September 21, 2013 at First Baptist Church, 649 Crater Lake Ave., Medford, OR. In lieu of flowers donations can be made in Nancy's honor to Grace Christian School.
