  • James (Jim) Stephen McClelland, 79, of Medford, Ore., went to be with the Lord on Saturday, September 14, 2013. He was a loving husband, father, grandfather, brother, uncle, and friend to many.
He was born August 18, 1934, to James and Evelyn McClelland of Salem, Ore. After graduating from Salem High School in 1952, he attended Oregon State University where he not only earned a bachelor's degree in Food Technology, but also met the love of his life. He married his wife of 57 years, Wanda, shortly after their college graduation. Together they raised three children: Connie, Patti, and Jim, Jr.
Jim spent his entire working career with Continental Can Company in various customer technical service and sales positions. Throughout his career with CCC, his family was relocated to many parts of the country including Chicago, New York, Boston, and St. Louis. Oregon always remained his favorite though and shortly after he retired, Wanda and he returned and settled in the Medford area.
Jim not only loved the Lord, his family, and his work but also had a passion for the community around him. He volunteered and held leadership roles in not only the churches he attended over the years but also belonged to community service groups. Most recently those would include Westminster Presbyterian Church in Medford and the Jacksonville Lions Club.
Jim enjoyed the outdoors, loving to fish, hunt, and marvel at the beautiful intricacies of the world God created. He also had a passion for woodworking and photography.
He is survived by his wife, Wanda; daughters Connie Chapman, of Fresno, Calif. and Patti (Bob) Hines, of Richmond, Va.; son, Jim (Lisa) McClelland, of Huntsville, Ala.; 10 grandchildren; sister, Sally Orcutt, of Kaiser, Ore.; brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Bob and Virginia Hankins, of Santa Barbara, Calif.; and brother-in-law, Pete Steneker, of Portland, Ore. He was preceded in death by his sister, Sylvia Steneker. He was a blessing to us all and will forever be in our hearts.
A memorial service will be held at 11:00 a.m., Monday, September 23, 2013, at Westminster Presbyterian Church, 2000 Oakwood Dr., Medford, OR 97504. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to either the Westminster Presbyterian Church or the Jacksonville Lions Club.
