Maria Leonide Cole, 90, left this earth for Heaven August 26, 2013, at Providence Medford Medical Center, having suffered an aneurysm. She born August 5, 1923, in Quebec, Canada, to Joseph and Lillian (Tremblay) Lagana. She married George Cole in Toronto, Ontario, Canada, February 12, 1944. George passed away in Los Angeles, Calif. February 28, 1987.
Maria enjoyed life to the fullest, even having attended a party the day before her passing, and playing cards with her buddies at Northridge Assisted Living. She always had the attitude to not let anything get you down, no matter how sad. She was a great example how to live your life to the fullest.
Maria left Canada to move to Los Angeles, Calif. in 1952. She worked as a hairdresser for 20 years and then as an LVN at Sherman Oaks Hospital for another 20 years. She moved to Medford, Ore. in 2000 to be near her family.
Survivors include her twin sister, Gloria DeCarlo of Medford, Ore.; nieces, Yvonne DeCarlo, of Jacksonville, Ore. Louise DeCarlo, of Vermont; nephews, Roger DeCarlo of Portland, Ore.; Larry DeCarlo of Canada; Danny DeCarlo, of Medford, Ore.; Tim Buckley, of New York; daughters-in-law, Corinne Cole and Sandi Reid of Los Angeles, Calif.; granddaughters, Ariana, Shannon, Angela, and Sara of Los Angeles, Calif.; her cat "Ruby"; and her very dear and loyal friend, Karen Melton of Medford, Ore. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; brother, Arthur Lagana; and three sons, Joseph Cole, Wayne Cole, and Robert Cole.
Arrangements handled by Memory Gardens, Medford. A memorial service will be held at 2:00 p.m., Saturday, September 21, 2013 at Northridge Assisted Living, 3737 S. Pacific Hwy., Medford. Music and food will follow to celebrate her life.
