The St. Mary's football team has found a winning formula: run, run and run some more.
The Crusaders racked up 438 rushing yards as they cruised to a 55-14 victory over Rogue River in nonleague play at Spiegelberg Stadium on Saturday.
St. Mary's — which rushed for 467 yards in a 58-36 win over Riddle last week — jumped out a 14-0 advantage in the first quarter against its former league foe and led 48-6 at halftime.
Anthony Bonsi erupted for 133 rushing yards and two touchdowns (11 and 14 yards) on 16 carries for the Crusaders (2-1). Denton Edwards had 10 attempts for 133 yards and two scores (45 and 35 yards) and Spencer McCabe rushed for 114 yards and a 6-yard TD on five carries. He added a 22-yard fumble return for a score in the third quarter.
Jacob Smith ran in a 17-yard score and Spencer Cox rumbled 10 yards into the end zone for St. Mary's.
For Rogue River (0-4), Cody Wright hauled in a 48-yard TD strike from Alex Valencia and also recorded a 51-yard scoring sprint.

Butte Falls (0-4, 0-2 Dist. 2) was limited to 89 yards rushing but received eight tackles from Matt Palomino, seven from Alex Cool-Hunsaker and four from Jordy Gorman.

TRIAD 3, BUTTE FALLS 1 — At Klamath Falls, Butte Falls had some good defensive efforts that helped create long rallies but the Loggers couldn't finish off Triad despite winning the opening set. Triad rallied for a 22-25, 25-16, 26-19, 25-14 win in Mountain Valley League play.
Shawna Creech had 18 digs, Torri Lilly added 12 and Jade Stubbs had 11 to pace Butte Falls (1-5, 1-3 MVL).

ASHLAND SPLITS — At Roseville, Calif., Ashland beat Oakmont, 11-8, before falling to San Marin, 14-8, to finish sixth out of 12 teams at the Roseville Tournament.
Against Oakmont, Taos Caderette-Stewart had six goals and two steals and Hoku Eggertsen a goal and six steals. Goalkeepers Ethan Croyle (five blocks) and Vince Wright (two blocks) split time between the pipes.
Against San Marin, Cole Harding and Eggertsen each turned in three goals and an assist.
