Lanes close at Crater Lake Avenue and Biddle Road

A lane on Stevens Street between Crater Lake Avenue and Biddle Road will be closed from 8:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. today.

During that time, contractor Hunter Communications will be working at the location. Motorists in the area should plan for delays and consider alternate routes to their destinations.

High school honor choir students will perform

The top high school choir students from Jackson, Josephine and Klamath counties will perform a free concert at Southern Oregon University at 3 p.m. Sunday, Oct. 13.

The SOU High School Honor Choir concert will be directed by Paul French, Fredna Grimland and Chris Bingham. It will conclude a weekend of classes where students learn voice technique, diction and sight singing.

SOU ensembles, including the choral Men's Glee group, the Women's Choir, and SOU Chamber Choir, will also perform.

The show is one hour long and is open to the public.


Orchid Society meetsat 7 tonight in Medford

The Rogue Valley Orchid Society will be having its monthly meeting at 7 tonight, at Anna Marie Creekside, 822 Golf View Drive, Medford. Member Teri Budesa will give a talk on partial-hydroponic growing of orchids.

Hanley Farm plans this year's Scarecrow Fest

Join ghosts, goblins, and who knows what else will show up as they gather at Hanley Farm for the Scarecrow Fest & Haunted Field events on two weekends in October.

On Saturday and Sunday, Oct. 12-13, plan to make a scarecrow, then stroll along Scarecrow Lane to see the entries from local businesses and families during the Hanley Farn tour. Be sure to vote for your favorite scarecrow. Winners will be announced Oct. 13. In addition to making your own scarecrow, there will be pumpkin painting, apple bobbing, Hanley Farmhouse tours, food and music.

Farmhouse tours go from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m., and cost $3 per person. Scarecrow-making kits are $10. Farmhouse tours are $3 per serson and scarecrow—making kits are $10.

The following weekend, Oct., 19-20, visit Polly Brown's Haunted Field. In the dark of night, walk down Scarecrow Lane and learn from the scarecrows, as they come alive. The Haunted field costs $5 for adults and $3 for children and Southern Oregon Historical Society members.
