CENTRAL POINT — The South Medford girls soccer team wore many hats on Tuesday.
Three to be exact.
Junior forward Brittany Jensen turned in three goals and two assists and sophomore forwards Montana Logue and Franny Gomez each netted hat tricks of their own in the Panthers' 10-0 win over Crater in Southern Oregon Hybrid action.
Sophomore Renae Nisbet scored less than two minutes into the match on a Jensen assist. South kept up the pressure, building a 7-0 advantage by halftime.
"We had set out to get an early goal and get after them quickly and we did that," South head coach Chris Hollewijn said.
Haylie Durant and Raney Brooks both had two assists for the Panthers (7-2, 3-0 SOH).
Goalkeeper McKenzie Kapp earned the shutout and Hannah Kapple was solid in the midfield against Crater (0-5, 0-3 SOH).
"I thought Crater had a ton of energy," Hollewijn said. "They played really hard. It was a good contest for our girls. ... Overall, I was happy. Our girls were very diligent and to the point."
SOUTH EUGENE 2, ROSEBURG 0 — At Roseburg, Maddie Prehoda scored the only goal South Eugene needed in the nonconference game, tallying in the 24th minute.
Roseburg (2-3-1) gave up the second goal in the 68th minute on a corner kick.
KLAMATH UNION 4, PHOENIX 0 — At Klamath Falls, Bailey Pimentel scored two goals for Klamath Union in the Skyline Conference opener.
Tori Dykstra and Paige Anocibar also scored for the Pelicans (3-1-1, 1-0 Sky), who led 2-0 at halftime.
Center midfielder Amanda Skaff controlled traffic well and wing Facie Graham was technically sound for Phoenix (2-2, 0-1 Sky), which was outshot 20-4.
NORTH VALLEY 4, HENLEY 2 — At Klamath Falls, Kerissa D'Arpino netted two goals to lead North Valley in the Skyline opener.
Venessa D'Arpino scored on an assist from Alexis Scott in the third minute for the Knights (3-1-1, 1-0 Sky). Henley (2-2-1, 0-1 Sky) responded with goals by Gabby Mathis (20th) and Olivia Pizano (27th) before Scott tied it at 2-2 in the 29th.
North Valley pulled away with second-half goals by Kerissa D'Arpino (47th) and Venessa D'Arpino (56th).
ST. MARY'S 3, LAKEVIEW 0 — Emily Elmore and Abby Coughlin knocked in first-half goals and Anna Peterson connected on a penalty kick for St. Mary's in District 4 play at U.S. Cellular.
Elmore scored unassisted in the 27th minute and Coughlin cashed in on a Lilli Knudsen assist with a 30-yard arching shot in the 38th.
Lakeview (0-4, 0-2 Dist. 4) was called for a hand ball in the 60th, and Peterson took advantage with a penalty kick into the right corner.
Viv Juncal and Emily Riehlman combined for the shutout in goal for the Crusaders (4-1-2, 2-0 Dist. 4).
GLIDE 7, ROGUE RIVER 0 — At Glide, Glide scored four first-half goals to take command in the District 4 match.
Rogue River (0-4, 0-2 Dist. 4) welcomed back center-midfielder Sequoia Poston, who returned from a broken left wrist suffered in the opener and played with a cast.
