MT staffer earns award from OGA

Mail Tribune sports editor Tim Trower has been chosen the 2013 Dale Johnson Media Award recipient by the Oregon Golf Association.

The award recognizes a member of the print or broadcast media whose reporting on players, courses or OGA events have made significant contributions to promoting the game of golf.

The award is named for Johnson, who was golf editor at the Oregonian from 1947-58 and served as executive director of the OGA and Pacific Northwest PGA Section from 1964-90,

Trower has been with the Mail Tribune for more than 23 years, 15 of those as sports editor. He writes a weekly golf column in season and covers local news and tournaments.
