    Crusader girls blank Glide, 5-0

  • Emily Elmore scored two goals and the St. Mary's girls soccer team's defense did not allow Glide a single shot on frame in a 5-0 District 4 victory for the Crusaders on Monday at U.S. Cellular Community Park.
    Elmore put the Crusaders (6-1-2, 4-0 Dist. 4) on the board in the fifth minute from 10 yards out on an assist from Rachel Raniele. She tallied again in the 49th minute on a set up from Lilli Knudsen to bolster the Crusaders' lead to 4-0.
    St. Mary's Allie Buccino added assists on Emily Riehlman and Anna Peterson's first-half goals.
    For the Crusaders' final score in the 58th minute, right-foot dominant MaryBeth Barnum received a drop ball from Emily Alvarez and drove it into the net with her left foot from about 30 yards out.
    Goalkeepers Riehlman and Viv Juncal combined for the shutout.
