February 3, 1950 ~ September 24, 2013
Frank James Silva passed away peacefully at his home September 24, 2013 with his loving wife, Teresa; son, Chris; and daughter, Lisa, by his side. He fought a tough, hard fight with cancer and other complications.
Frank was born February 3, 1950, in Yreka, Calif. to Jim and Nonnah and was lovingly raised by his second mother, Shirley Silva. He graduated high school in 1968 and worked at Cameron & Favor Service Station while still in school and later worked at Dodge, Toyota and Jim Wilson Ford as a mechanic.
He moved to Central Point, Ore., and drove truck for Mike DeSimone, who became one of his dearest and most respected friends. In the late 80s, he opened his own auto repair shop and was very successful and over the years came to be known as one of the most respected and trusted automotive technicians in the region. In his early years of business he specialized in custom engine builds and later came to specialize in air conditioning, auto electrical repair, and diagnostics. He was also known for differential rebuilds.
Frank had a special love for Chevy trucks and Harley Davidson motorcycles and he took pride in building them. He especially enjoyed hunting, fishing, and all outdoor activities. He was a true woodsman. He was a wonderful son, husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather and friend.
Later in life his greatest ambition and desire was to lead his family and friends to the Lord. He impacted many of his friends' lives by opening his heart and his home to them. In the last year, he fought so hard to get well so he could be with his family.
He is survived by his wife, Teresa; son, Chris; daughter, Lisa; granddaughters, Karissa and Kindra; grandson, Jesse; great-grandsons, Kyler and Dylan (all of Central Point, Ore.); mother, Nonnah, of Medford, Ore.; dad and mom, Jim and Shirley Silva; mother and father-in-law, Frank and Pat Cavin; sisters-in-law, Cathy (Mark) Hamrin and family, and Laurie (Richard) Rotbart and family; godmother and aunt, Marie Cummings; aunts, Edna Rizzardo and Penny Silva (all of Yreka, Calif.); Patsy Thomas, of Santa Rosa, Calif.; great-aunt Katie of Etna, Calif.; and many cousins, nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his brother, Steven; and daughter, Sherri.
A memorial service will be held at 11:00 a.m., Saturday, October 5, 2013, at Table Rock Fellowship, 3610 N. Pacific Hwy, Medford, OR.
The family would like to extend a special thanks to the staff at O.H.S.U. and Rogue Regional Medical Center, Dr. Peter Adesman, and oncology nurse David.
