  • The Medford Rogues announced the commitment of six players to the 2014 roster, including the return of former Ashland High pitcher Jamie Flynn.
Also added to the roster are UC Santa Barbara freshmen J.J. Muno (infielder) and Brandon Evans (outfielder), Dixie State University junior outfielder Donald Glover and freshman right-handed pitcher/third baseman Julian Burrola and Campbellsville University junior right-handed pitcher Chris Tuma. The additions bring the Rogues' roster to 24 official signees.
"We're glad to have Jamie back with us. He showed well this summer and we think with a year of college under his belt he'll be even better," Rogues general manager Chuck Heeman said. "We've also got a great relationship with UC Santa Barbara and Campbellsville, and the players they send us reflect that. Dixie State is a new school we're recruiting from and they've sent many good players to the West Coast League over the years. Four of these six will be here at the beginning of the season, helping us avoid the mid-June roster shuffle we ran into in 2013 and give us a better start to the season."
The right-handed Flynn is a freshman at Western Nevada Junior College. He originally signed to a 10-day contract in 2013 and was fourth on the Rogues with 362/3 innings pitched, including seven starts. He went 0-1 with a 5.40 ERA on the summer after starring at Ashland High.
Muno played mainly third base for Notre Dame High in Sherman Oaks, Calif. He hit .418 as a junior, striking out only four times in nearly 100 plate appearances. He batted .342 in his high school career, starting all four years for Notre Dame. Muno struck out only 35 times in nearly 400 plate appearances.
Evans projects as a top of the order outfielder for the Gauchos. He hit .352 in his senior year at Oaks Christian High, striking out only nine times in 106 plate appearances and compiling a .462 on base percentage. He stole 22 bases in 26 attempts during his senior season.
Glover transferred to Dixie State from Western Nevada, where he hit .299 in 49 games. He was second on the team with four triples and knocked in 15 runs while going 7-8 in stolen bases.
Burrola will play third base and pitch for Dixie State. He was named first-team all-state in Nevada in 2013 after hitting .409 with 10 home runs, 18 doubles and 36 RBIs for Coronado High.
Coronado finished 35-4, won the Nevada state high school championship and ended its 2013 season ranked eighth nationally.
Tuma transferred to perennial NAIA powerhouse Campbellsville after compiling a record of 8-3 with a 2.64 ERA at San Diego Mesa Junior College. He pitched 92 innings in 2013 during 15 games and 14 starts, striking out 37 and walking only nine on the season.
