McKenzie and Christopher Garceau

McKenzie Kay Sheaffer and Christopher Lee Garceau were married July 6, 2013, at the U.S. Military Academy in West Point, N.Y.

The bride is the daughter of Scott and Barbara Sheaffer of Medford. She is a 2006 graduate of South Medford High School, a 2010 graduate of the University of Oregon and a 2011 graduate of Arizona State University with degrees in elementary education. She works as a second grade teacher for Bellevue School District in Bellevue, Wash.

The groom is the son of Peter and Teresa Garceau of Guilford, Conn. He is a 2001 graduate of Canterbury School and a 2005 graduate of the U.S. Military Academy at West Point with a degree in systems engineering. He serves as an Army officer, and is owner of South Seattle CrossFit in Seattle.

Maid of honor was the bride's sister, Shannon Hampson of Panama City Beach, Fla. Bridesmaids were the bride's sister-in-laws, Bel Lathrom of Seattle, and Kiesha Sheaffer of Medford; the groom's sister-in-law, Courtney Garceau of North Haven, Conn.; the groom's sister, Kara Cheney of North Haven, and the bride's best friends, Chelsie O'Neill, Holly Higgins, Bryn Dressler and Kendall Gallop.

Best man was the groom's brother, Kurt Garceau of North Haven. Groomsmen were the groom's brother-in-law, Jef Cheney of North Haven; the bride's brother, Ryan Sheaffer of Seattle; the bride's brother, Carson Sheaffer of Medford; and the bride's brother-in-law, Nat Hampson, of Panama City Beach.

Flower girls were the bride's nieces, Drew and Tyler Hamson of Panama City Beach, and the ring bearers were the groom's nephews, Caleb and Noah Cheney.

A reception was held at The Thayer Hotel in West Point. The newlyweds are planning a honeymoon in winter and are living in Seattle.
