  • My dad was born January 23, 1922 to Cleo Sweed Hawkins and Cordila Emma Harvason in Marble, Ark.
    On September 20, 2013 he received a celestial discharge from this Earth.
    On June 7, 1941 he married Kitty Faye Duval. They later divorced. He married Sharon Young in May of 1978. She survives him.
    My dad worked locally in the timber industry for Hunter & Best Logging, and Robert Straub Logging. After leaving the timber industry he worked for Interstate Stone and then for Builders Supply Company making cinder blocks. He also worked for Medford Construction.
    He was a cook in the U.S. Army for a short time until the end of World War II.
    My dad was an avid hunter and fisherman. He loved hunting the best.
    He is survived by his wife, Sharon, of Jacksonville; three children: Daniel Hawkins and Janet Hawkins, both of Central Point, Ore., and Delmar, Sams Valley, Ore.; one brother Merl Hawkins; three sisters; Adalene South, Irene Hayes and Jessie Watson, all of Buhl, Idaho; twelve grandchildren, 24 great-grandchildren, and one great-great grandchild.
    He was preceded in death by his parents, three brothers, three sisters, his daughter Joyce Winningham, and one grandson.
