  • A student and a bus driver were taken to an area hospital after a rollover accident in Sams Valley Monday afternoon, Central Point School district officials say.
The accident occurred at about 3 p.m. near the intersection of Ramsey Road and Highway 234. The bus was empty except for the single student and the driver, said Samantha Steele, district superintendent.
"It was the last stop of the day," Steele said.
Speaking from Asante Rogue Regional Medical Center, Steele declined to discuss the victims' injuries, or how the accident occurred. But she added the parent of the student described the accident as a "slow rollover."
The district's busing is contracted to First Student. Steele referred further questions to representatives of the company.
A Jackson County sheriff's deputy said the bus was headed south on Ramsey Road when it toppled.
The deputy said the two people on the bus weren't seriously injured, but were taken to the hospital to be checked.
