  • Shirley Marlene Peebler was born in Burns, Ore. She passed away August 21, 2013, at home in Phoenix, Ore. at the age of 75, after a long battle with cancer. Shirley was the second child of Harry Clyde Thompson and Vivian Irene Thompson and is preceded in death by her older brother George David Thompson.
Shirley attended schools in Prineville, Ore. and Cottey College, Mo. She married Raymond Hall and had two children, Dennis Durand Hall and Doreen Denise Costelow. She later married Robert L. Peebler.
Shirley was a stay at home Mom and worked hard on the farm. She was an avid gardener and canned many of her fruits and vegetables. Shirley was an extremely talented and gifted classical pianist. She taught children, including her grandchildren, how to play the piano. She played at churches and social events. Her neighbors enjoyed the music as it flowed through the mobile home park. Shirley loved to travel and lived life to the fullest. She went on many cruises and trips. She even drove the Alcan highway with a girlfriend and traveled to Mexico often to get away by herself. She was a strong personality which gave her the strength and fortitude to endure her last battle with cancer long beyond what was expected. She met her challenge with hope, high expectations and a special kind of courage.
She is survived by her two children, Dennis Hall of Medford, Ore. and Doreen Costelow of Eagle Point, Ore.; four grandchildren, Alex Hall, Sheri Ann (Costelow) Johnson and her husband Ben, Sarah Ashley (Costelow) Valdevia and her husband Josh, and Sami Jo Anna Costelow; and 2 great-grandchildren, Kai and Kobe Johnson.
