  • OGDEN, Utah — The Southern Oregon Spartans came up short in their first road outing of the season, falling, 5-1, to the undefeated Ogden Mustangs during Western States Hockey League action on Friday.
    Southern Oregon (0-3) fell behind 3-0 before Ben Henry tallied on assists from Austin Sartorius and Mike Kowicki at the 1:10 mark in the second period.
    Schuyler Seyfert had a goal and two assists to lead the Mustangs (5-0), who outshot the Spartans, 53-32.
    Ogden was 3-for-3 on shot attempts in the first period.
    Southern Oregon goalkeeper Jiri Ponikelsky made 48 saves.
    The two teams continue their three-games series tonight.
