WILSONVILLE — Gracie Tostenson's third-place finish helped the Crater girls to third overall in the 26-school field at the Sandelie Golf Course Cross Country Classic on Friday.
Tostenson posted a time of 18 minutes, 19.5 seconds.
Taryn Rawlings of Wilsonville was the girls individual winner (17:59.7) and Mountain View won the team title with 112 points. Crater had 149 points.
Other Crater runners contributing to the high finish were Megan Hastings (15th, 19:35.5), Britney Wimberly (28th, 19:50.2), Jordan Monroe (44th, 20:20.0) and Alexa Scharf (63rd, 20:50.9).
In boys, the Comets placed eighth (272) against 31 other teams. Mountain View won the boys team title with 96 points.
Austin Sanders' 19th-place finish (16:18.8) was the best performance by the Comets' boys. Roman Ollar of West Linn was the individual winner at 15:38.2.
Darien Andrews (25th, 16:27.0), Devin Rodman (27th, 16:31.3), Zach Olsen (102nd, 17:26.3), Tanner Shipley (107th, 17:29.9) and Nathan Edwards (108th, 17:30.1) were other top Comet finishers.
ASHLAND TOURNAMENT — At Ashland, the Ashland boys won both of their matches and the girls routed North Eugene 17-5 at Southern Oregon Unversity pool.
The Ashland boys received five goals from Luke Abell in an 18-4 victory over North Eugene and also from Taos Cadarette-Stewart in the Grizzlies' 20-5 win over Marist.
Finn Griffin and Cole Harding added three goals apiece for Ashland against North Eugene. Harding also had two assists and a pair of steals. Goalies Vincent Wright and Ethan Croyle both registered five blocks.
The Grizzlies' Hoku Eggertsen amassed three goals, five assists and seven steals against Marist and Devin Lancaster chipped in three goals, two assists and a steal.
Sabrina Scoggin paced the Ashland girls with six goals, three assists and three steals. Maddy Longshore went for four goals and three assists, Sadie Kasiah pitched in three goals, two steals and a couple of assists and Leilani Sukles tallied a pair of goals. Goalie Kaya Doehm had five blocks.
HOSANNA CHRISTIAN 3, BUTTE FALLS 0 — At Butte Falls, taking on the Mountain Valley League's top squad, Butte Falls proved to be a tough out over the final two sets of Hosanna Christian's 25-7, 25-22, 26-24 victory.
The Loggers (1-9, 1-7 MVL) staged a rally in the third set to tie it at 24-all before the Lions (10-3, 7-1 MVL) closed it out.
Butte Falls jumped out in front 17-12 in the second set before losing the momentum.
