EARLY HORROR FILM: Check out a screening of horror filmmaker Val Lewton's 1943 film "I Walked with a Zombie," not rated, at 1:30 today at the Central Point library, 116 S. Third St.

Lewton bucked the trend of simplistic monster movies and aimed his films toward a more sophisticated audience. Films by Lewton will be shown every Wednesday during October at the Central Point library. Call 541-664-3228.

HAUNTED HOUSE VOLUNTEER MEETING: Want to dish out some scares this Halloween? The Randall Theatre will hold a meeting for volunteers who want to work in its Nightmare Chamber haunted house. The meeting will start at 6:45 tonight at the theater, 10 E. Third St., Medford. No experience is necessary, and the theater will train actors. Call 541-632-3258.
