  • Van Sickle
    Harold "Hal" Van Sickle peacefully left this world surrounded by friends and family on October 10, 2013. He was born in Vallejo, Calif., March 11, 1948. Hal graduated from Medford Senior High and then enlisted in the U.S. Marine Corps. After serving four years in the Marines, he moved back to the Rogue Valley.
    Hal was a member of the Plumber and Pipefitters Local 290. During his time in the union he owned his own shop, worked for various other shops, and was an apprenticeship instructor. In his free time, Hal enjoyed spending time with his family, going to the coast, backyard BBQs, and watching his grandchildren's sporting events.
    He was preceded in death by his brother, Ted. Hal is survived by his wife, Kathie Brooks; mother, Iris Van Sickle; sisters, Suzi Van Sickle, Barbara Nelson, and Marie Feskeus; brothers, Skip (Joan), Mark (Billie), Rob (Pat) Van Sickle; son, Matt Van Sickle, and his children Molly and Emily; son, Derrick (Lisa) Van Sickle, and their children Tasha, Kalie, and Hunter; step-sons, Dustin and Ian Brooks, and their children. Makiyah and Sienna; and his lifelong friend, G.T. Smith.
    He will be missed.
