PORTLAND, Ore., Oct. 20. — Federal Judge R.S. Bean in a decision today ordered the claim of Dr. James M. Keene, dentist and politician of Jackson County to a valuable timber homestead set aside.
In his oral decision, Judge Bean declared that the facts sworn to by Dr. Keene in his affidavit had been effectively disproven. The evidence indicated, said Judge Bean, that Dr. Keene had never been on his claim a single night, nor had his cabin on it ever been completed.
The Keene case was tried in the federal court here three weeks ago. Keene resides at Medford.
