  • Cleland Productions crews prepare the Ashland Plaza for Tuesday's filming of "Wild," starring Reese Witherspoon and based on Cheryl Strayed's best-selling book about her solo trek on the Pacific Crest Trail.
Crews added green leaves to the Plaza trees and will park 1995 and older model cars on surrounding streets today to reflect the time in which the movie is set — August 1995, shortly after the death of the Grateful Dead's Jerry Garcia.
The filming will mean street closures for Ashland drivers, though sidewalks will be open to pedestrians except for short spurts of filming. Winburn Way in Lithia Park and the Historic Ashland Armory on Oak Street will act as the crews' "base camp" through early Wednesday morning.
Expect closures on Winburn Way through 6 a.m. Wednesday. Today, streets immediately surrounding the Plaza, including Water, Oak and Main, will be closed until 4 p.m.
Traffic will be re-routed onto Lithia Way, similar to the Fourth of July parade routing.
Parking will be prohibited on side streets in the area until 6 p.m. or later. They include First, Second and Grant streets and Lithia Way.
