  • Donald Francis Michalak, 80, was born in Toledo, Ohio, June 25, 1933 and passed away October 18, 2013, from dementia and a brain tumor.
Don was an extremely intelligent man with a Doctorate in Education, who owned his own management counsulting firm, Michalak Training Associates. He co-authored the book Making the Training Process Work.
Don met his wife, Lee, in Michigan and they worked together at MTA. They later spent 20 years in the Tucson, Ariz. area before moving to Medford, Ore. 13 years ago. Before he became ill, Don spent much of his time volunteering for the Literacy Council, the Arc's Respite Program, and the Southern Oregon Humane Society. He was a tremendous animal lover, and family pets were a big part of his life.
Don and Lee spent a wonderful 38 years of marriage together. Besides Lee, Don is survived by his sons, Don, Steve, Paul, Greg, John, and Jim; and his daughters, Sue and Anne; 10 grandchildren; a brother and three sisters.
Don was the kindest person Lee had ever met and he will be missed so very, very much. At Don's request, he is being cremated and there will be no services. If you wish to remember Don, please consider a donation to animal charities SOHS or CATS, or to Asante Hospice.
