Amanda Hisey made a nifty defensive play that led to a goal and assisted on another as North Medford defeated Roseburg, 3-1, in Southern Oregon Hybrid girls soccer Tuesday.
The game was played at Spiegelberg Stadium as the Black Tornado (7-4-1, 5-1 SOH) celebrated senior night. North has six seniors.
Hisey tallied in the sixth minute when she knocked the ball away from an Indians player, carried it to the goal and hit a low shot into the net.
"It was a patient shot," said Tornado coach Emily Miller. "It was just a good force play. She stayed with the ball and created a mistake by the defense."
In the 35h, Hisey assisted on a Sydney Thomas goal.
After Claire Ibarra scored for Roseburg on a penalty kick in the 59th minute, Sarah Thomas made a 25-yard direct kick in the 78th minute for the final tally.
North got fine play from Tori Foy, who switched from outside back to center midfielder and "dominated play," said Miller, wherever she was.
Roseburg (6-5-1, 4-3) suffered a blow when sophomore standout Mahala Norris suffered a broken arm in the first half.

CASCADE CHRISTIAN 7, LAKEVIEW 1 — Katelyn Stephens did a good job spreading the ball around and her teammates did plenty of finishing as Cascade Christian rolled to the District 4 blowout.
After Haley Reed notched the first goal, Stephens scored the Challengers' second from about 25 yards away to make it 2-0 at halftime. Cascade Christian (9-4-1, 6-3 Dist. 4) pulled away in the second half. The onslaught included a spectacular midair volley by Makenzie Hickman that gave Cascade Christian a 6-1 lead in the 70th minute.
