  • The Southern Oregon Historical Society will host a autograph party to celebrate the publication of a new book on the 1923 railroad holdup at Southern Oregon Tunnel 13 from 4 to 6 p.m. Thursday, Nov. 14, at 106 N. Central Ave., Medford.
    Volunteer researcher Scott Mangold's book "Tragedy at Southern Oregon Tunnel 13: DeAutremonts Hold Up the Southern Pacific," tells the story of the infamous 1923 train robbery in the hills above Ashland that resulted in the deaths of four men and a four-year manhunt.
    A limited number of copies of Mangold's book will be available for purchase and signing.
