  • The annual ACCESS Senior Shoebox Project will accept wrapped gift boxes filled with a variety of fun and usable items until Dec. 6.
The gifts will be delivered the week of Dec. 9 to shut-ins, seniors and people with disabilities in Jackson County.
Donors and volunteers will have the opportunity to wrap shoeboxes and fill them with simple gifts. Examples include household items such as a pocket calendar, address book, post-it notes, flashlight, sewing kits, neck pillow, jar grabber or alarm clock. Personal care items such as toothbrushes, toothpaste, dental floss, bath sponges, combs, brushes or nail clippers can be added, as can fun items such as small stuffed animals, card games and crossword puzzles.
Box lids and bottoms should be wrapped separately, so ACCESS can add a holiday greeting and agency contact information in case recipients need other assistance.
For an expanded list of items, see www.accesshelps.org and click on the "Senior Shoebox" button.
Volunteers can fill shoeboxes, bring in empty boxes or containers, purchase items for the boxes or make a donation to help support the program.
Shoeboxes can be dropped at ACCESS, 3630 Aviation Way, Medford. For information or to volunteer, call Barbara Bieg at 541-774-4324 or email her at: bb@accesshelps.org.
