1945 ~ 2013

Karen was born June 4, 1945 to Ethel and Maurice Murdock in Long Beach, Calif. She grew up in Turner, Ore., and graduated from Turner High School. She attended Oregon State University and earned a Bachelor of Science in special education. It was there she met Gary L. Yancey and they were married June 24, 1967. Professional opportunities took them to Sunnyvale, Calif. in Silicon Valley.

Karen worked tirelessly as an excellent homemaker and mother of two, Michele and Mark. She purchased a quilting fabric store and operated it as sole proprietor for 14 years while remaining a consummate homemaker, mother, and wife. She was an expert quilter and as a result of nation-wide recognition and visits, she developed friends across the entire continental U.S.

She is survived by her husband, Gary; children, Michele (Tom) O'Hara and Mark (Shannon) Yancey; grandchildren, Shane, Jack, and Nash O'Hara, Malia and Makeila Yancey; three brothers; and multiple nieces and nephews.
