Suspected car thief captured, jailed following police chase

Medford police on Saturday arrested a suspected car thief who crashed a stolen Mercedes on Saturday near the intersection of Hillcrest Road and South Modoc Avenue.

A silver 2005 Mercedes was reported stolen near Hillcourt Street and North Keene Way Drive at about 6:55 a.m., Medford police Cpl. Chris Dode said.

A short time later, a Medford police officer spotted the vehicle and attempted to stop it, but the driver was able to elude pursuit. The officer found the vehicle crashed a short distance away but could not locate the driver.

Police quickly established a perimeter, but the suspected eluded capture.

An officer spotted a man matching the description of the suspect walking in the area of Spring Street. The officer chased the man on foot and subdued him by Taser.

The suspect was identified as Dominic Robert Pritchett. He was questioned and later lodged in the Jackson County Jail on charges of vehicle theft, hit-and-run, attempting to elude police in a vehicle and a parole violation. He was lodged in the Jackson County Jail without bail.
