  • Surrounded by loved ones at her home, Melba Joan Parten Perkins went peacefully over the river to be with her Lord Jesus November 8, 2013.
Melba was born May 19, 1935 in Douglas, Ariz. to Lawrence Willis Parten Sr. & Norma Lee Jones Parten. She had one big sister, Wanda, and five younger brothers; Lawrence Jr. (Frog), Harold, (Bunny), Jay, Jack and Robert. She married Dale S. Perkins in Yuma Ariz. August 1, 1953.
They had two children, Dale L. Perkins and Rhonda Renee Jennings. They were blessed with grandchildren, Jaelynn, Todd, Terrie, Shelly, Molly; and seven great-grandchildren along with many nieces and nephews whom she adored. She was preceded in death by her husband, Dale; sister, Wanda; brothers, Harold and Jay; and her precious nephew, known as Junior.
Melba was a Wife, Mother and Homemaker. She spent about sixteen years of her life as a Nurse's Aide. Melba had a unique personality along with a wild sense of humor. She had many challenges and struggles over the years, just being Melba, but was a sweet, loving and compassionate person who literally would give you the boots off of her feet or the rings off her fingers, if you wanted them. She would take your pain away to be her own if she could. She had great faith and love for the Lord and passed that around generously.
Melba Joan Parten Perkins; loving wife, mother, grandmother, sister, aunt and friend, you will be greatly missed, but never forgotten.
Memorial Services will be held at 3:00 p.m. Friday, November 15, 2013 at the Bible Baptist Church at 420 Sixth Avenue, Gold Hill, Oregon.
