Ex-Phoenix runner Juarez sets school mark at Clackamas CC

Former Phoenix High cross country runner Jorge Gil Juarez broke the Clackamas Community College record for 8 kilometers while finishing second Saturday in the Northwest Athletic Association of Community Colleges championships in Battleground, Wash.

Juarez covered the course in 24 minutes, 20 seconds. The 2011 Phoenix graduate was edged at the finish by a leaning Daniel Schofield, of Spokane Community College. They were credited with the same time.

Former North Valley High standout Jonathan Cornish, running for Lane Community College, finished third in 24:23.
