  • Five trips to Europe have provided Medford artist Ruth Heath with plenty of inspiration, but Heath was more attracted to solitary doorways, windows and passages than castles and cathedrals.
These often unadorned but charming openings are the primary subjects in her new series, titled "Far Away Places."
Heath's series will be displayed through November at Art du Jour Gallery. The exhibit features new and old pen-and-ink drawings and oil, watercolor and pastel paintings.
Ashland artist Daniel Verner will display his narrative, oil and pastel paints in the adjoining Salon. Heath and Verner will be present at a reception, held from 5 to 8 p.m. during the Third Friday art walk, Nov. 15, at the gallery, 213 E. Main St. Wine and finger foods will be served. Call 541-770-3190 or see www.artdujourgallery.com.
For Third Friday, Rogue Gallery & Art Center will continue to display "A Canopy of Briars," an exhibit of oil, acrylic and watercolor paintings by Yoncalla artist Susan Applegate, in its Main Gallery but also will highlight juried works by 39 gallery members in its Member's Gallery.
"There's oils, acrylics, watercolors and photographs," says Executive Director Kim Hearon of the Member's Gallery. "Some are abstract, some are traditional and some are impressionistic."
A reception with wine by Weisinger's Winery, food by Harry & David and cheeses from Rogue Creamery will be from 5 to 8 p.m. Friday at the gallery, 40 S. Bartlett St., Medford. Call 541-772-8118 or see www.roguegallery.org.
Parking in downtown Medford and in the parking structure on Sixth Street is free after 5 p.m. weekdays and all day Saturday and Sunday.
Artists working in all media are invited to participate in a rotating schedule for the Third Friday art walks. Contact the Arts Council of Southern Oregon at 541-779-2820 or email board@artscouncilso.org.
