Spartans drop opener to Moose

David Barnes scored two goals and Brett Myer added one goal and two assists as the Salt Lake City Moose opened the WSHL three-game series with a 6-2 victory against the Southern Oregon Spartans at The RRRink Friday.

The Moose (8-3-0) built a 6-0 lead before the Spartans added a pair of third-period goals.

Carl Edstrom scored on an assist from Donnie Nagle IV with 10:33 gone in the period and Arturs Buss added an unassisted goal for Southern Oregon (3-9-0).

The teams resume play at 7:30 tonight at The RRRink.
