I've been trying to get a painting contractor lately, but I can't seem to get anyone. When is hunting season over?
— Carol, White City
Well, Carol, we at Since You Asked Central think you're probably better off buying your own brushes if you are relying on the end of hunting season to get a contractor interested in your project.
The truth is, there really is no end to hunting season in Oregon, if you take everything collectively.
Right now, for instance, bowhunters are back in the woods of eastern Jackson County during the second half of their bow season for black-tailed buck deer, and they'll be hunting until Dec. 1 (or until they bag a buck, whichever comes first).
Western Oregon's black bear season runs to New Year's Eve. A couple of local antlerless elk hunts start this Saturday and run through March. The cougar season here is year-round.
And that's just big-game animals.
Some goose seasons are open into March as well.
