    Jim DeVos, 80, of Medford, Ore. passed away peacefully on Wednesday, September 25, 2013. He was born February 18, 1933 in Grand Rapids, Mich. He was the second son of Herbert and Dolly DeVos.
    He joined the U.S. Army when he was 17 years old and served four years as a Sergeant in the Tank Division in the Korean war. After discharge he joined the U.S. Naval Reserves and served 12 years as Recruiting Officer and Chief Petty Officer Lithographer on two aircraft carriers, the Bennington and the Kearsarge.
    Jim had resided in the Rogue Valley for 54 years. He had been a printer at the Medford Mail Tribune, among others. Jim had also been the owner of the local BMW dealership as well as the local Toyota dealership in the 70s.
    Jim is survived by his wife, Nancy, of 25 years; three step-children, Karri Lea (James) DeVos, William (Kathy) Porter, and Eric (Barbara) Porter; six grandchildren, Scott, Leslea, Kimberly, Amanda, Krista, and Coleman; four great-grandchildren, Jessica, Julian, Raylee, and Celeste; two brothers, Gordon and Fred; and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by a daughter, Laurie DeVos-Penkala.
    Jim was a very social man. He enjoyed riding his motorcycle, spending "Spring Break" in Death Valley with "the bus", family and friends, summer months on the Applegate Lake with the houseboat, winter months snowmobiling, and spending lots of time in Baja, Mexico.
    A memorial service will be held at at 1:00 p.m. Saturday, November 23, 2013 at Conger-Morris Chapel in Central Point, Ore. In lieu of flowers, con-tributions made to Alzheimer's Research in Jim's name would be appreciated.
