Officer gets state award

Jackson County Sheriff's Community Service Officer Gerry Conley was awarded the prestigious Ken Mainwaring Award from the Crime Prevention Association of Oregon on Oct. 23.

According to the nomination letter, written by Crime Prevention Association of Oregon Treasurer Dala Johnson, Conley was given the award for his work ethic, dedication, involvement and attitude toward crime prevention. The Ken Mainwaring Award is the highest award given by the association for recognition of significant contributions and dedication to the principles of crime prevention and the association.

"I was very humbled to receive this year's Ken Mainwaring Award," Conley said in a statement. "My predecessors are shining examples of vision, industry and selflessness."
