A southbound pickup truck on Interstate 5 near the south Medford interchange lost part of its load of plywood this morning, causing several cars to swerve and creating a four-car pileup.
Oregon State Police, ODOT and Medford fire crews responded to the scene.
The left lane of I-5 remains blocked, creating a backup all the way to the north Medford freeway exit.
"It's a mess," ODOT spokesman Gary Leaming said. "Traffic is running hard today, because (it's) the biggest travel day of the year."
There was no immediate word on injuries or when traffic flow will return to normal.
