Central Point Christmas Lights Parade is Saturday

Central Point's Community Christmas Lights Parade will start at 5:30 p.m. on Saturday, Dec. 7, on Seventh Street and end at City Hall.

More than 20 twinkling parade entries are expected, organizers said. Entries include the Scenic Middle School Marching Band, Fusion Force Dance Team and Erickson Air Crane Inc.

Family activities follow the parade at City Hall, and at 7 p.m. the community Christmas tree will be lit.

The Fusion Force Dance Team, Crater High School Choir and Mae Richardson Elementary Choir will perform around the tree.

Free crafts and games will be offered, while food vendors, face painting and other games will be available for a fee. Hay rides will be given around City Hall, and the Table Rock Kiwanis will hand out free books for children.

Santa will be available in the Council Chambers for photos. Families must bring their own cameras to get a free photo.

No items will be handed out during the parade for pedestrian safety in the low light; however, many parade entries will be staged at City Hall after the event to hand out goodies and let people see their lights up close, organizers said.
