Margaret Ellen Kidwell, 95, a resident of the Rogue Valley Manor, passed away October 11, 2013. She was born in Honolulu, Hawaii February 25, 1918 and lived there all of her life until moving to Medford, Ore. with her husband, Homer Baird Kidwell, in 1994. She was a graduate of Stanford University, 1939, magna cum laude and a member of Phi Beta Kappa.
She and her husband traveled extensively and were hiking and camping enthusiasts. She will be remembered in Honolulu for her very active role in preserving and developing the State and County park systems. She was active in performing as an actress and puppeteer in children's theater and a docent at the Honolulu Academy of Arts. She was an active member of the Junior League of Hawaii and served on the boards of numerous civic organizations and foundations. Girl Scouts will remember her as the founder and developer of their mountain camp at Paumalu.
Margaret is survived by her daughter, Frances Jean Findley, six grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Margaret's son, Alan Baird Kidwell, passed away shortly before her death.
There will be no services in Medford and her ashes will be scattered in Hawaii.
