A man who allegedly stabbed his wife multiple times was arrested early today attempting to flee the scene in a vehicle, authorities said.
Police responded to a stabbing at a residence in the 300 block of North Peach Street at about 2:30 a.m. and arrested Antoine Ramone Coleman, 45, who is lodged in the Jackson County Jail on charges of first-degree assault and attempted murder. His bail is set at $2 million, jail records show.
His wife Annette Coleman, 36, was stabbed multiple times and was transported to Asante Rogue Regional Medical Center with life-threatening injuries, but her condition has now stabilized, said a Medford police news release.
The hospital has not responded to requests seeking her latest condition.
Police returned to the residence with a search warrant and seized evidence, but did not release what that evidence was, the release said.
Police are considering the incident a domestic dispute and the Colemans' children were not present at the time of the alleged stabbing, as they were staying with relatives, the news release said.
Police are continuing to investigate the incident and will not release further details at this time, the release said.
